My
youth was spent discovering nature, art, music, and sports in what was
then the small town of Chesterfield, Missouri. I felt my artistic calling
at an early age, and through practice, study, and observaton I continually
strive to master my skills and grow as an artist.
My
art is many faceted; my body of work is both stylistically and subjectively
diverse. On canvas, I work both en plein air and in my studio. My mural
work consists of residential and commercial commissions. There is nothing
more wonderful than painting in the open air, observing the changing
light, forcing me to be spontaneous yet true to the natural beauty which
surrounds me. Just as thrilling is laying out the first brush strokes
on a large wall mural seeing only in my mind's eye the image I desire.
Whether
I am painting an 8"x10" en plein air canvas or a 100' wall mural, I
strive to create beautiful, colorful works that jump off the canvas
or wall into the viewer's heart and mind. I strive to achieve this through
observing the beauty of life which surrounds me and picking from this
bounty to evoke an emotional response in the viewer.
In
years to come, I see myself moving towards more interpretive work, always
striving to satisfy my soul.... and always painting.
